The Volcano Artists Hui is having an opening reception of our exhibit entitled SIGHTLINES at the Volcano Art Center Gallery in the Volcanoes National Park on Sat, Feb. 20 from 5-7pm.
The exhibit will be up until March 20th.

Eight people representing the Hawaii State Foundation for Culture and the Arts reviewed the exhibit and selected 3 pieces for consideration in the State’s collection.  Awards were made to Elizabeth Miller, mixed media, Erik Wold, pottery and Mary Goodrich, photography.   Big thank you’s to VAC Gallery Director, Emily Catey-Weiss, to Henry Bianchini, who curated the exhibit and to Ken Charon who installed it.

February 2016 Meeting

Meeting on February 17th, 2016 at 7PM

Photographs from last year’s exhibit at the Hilo Medical Center will be available for pickup at next Wednesday’s meeting.  A special thanks to everyone, then and now, who has contributed their work to beautifying our hospital, and also thanks to those of you who helped to prepare the work for hanging.   Many viewers feel a sense of wonder and peace when they see our work, and you can feel good about giving that to them.  Please go and see the new exhibit, which will be hanging in the Lobby for about one year.

At our February 17 meeting we will have a slideshow on the Mauna Kea trip from January.  Ken has set your images to music and it looks really good!  We will also have a message from our President Ram and maybe a few other surprises.

If you haven’t paid your dues yet, Michael will be there to accept your check or cash.

Doug and Linda Halsted will lead an evening outing to do light painting at Liliuokalani Park on Monday, February 22.  There will be a full moon night.  Bring flashlights, gels, anything that you can use to paint with light.  Liliuokalani is a great location for this.   Meet at 6pm by the bamboo.  Sunset is at 6:23pm, but if you come early, the late afternoon light is lovely in the park.  You must be a paid up member of the HPC to participate in the outings.   (Only $15 per year, what a deal!)
